The missteps that allowed the terrorists to successfully attack the world trade center should never have happened if government agencies had followed (SOP) Standard Operating Procedures! Even without any attention being paid to how the USA missed the warnings that were there before the event, the day of 9/11 should never have played out the way it did. If the government agencies charged with responding to a hijacking had simply followed the SOP instructions drummed into the brains of everyone involved, the attacks on the second tower and the Pentagon would have been impossible to complete. Why are we not investigating the failure of a ready response system that has been in place for years?

Who cares if the White House knew what was up before the attacks happened? We will never prove that satisfactorily. What happened to our programmed immediate response to a commercial aircraft hijacking that is laid out in black and white for all to read? Why did the jets not scramble before the first tower was struck? They are under standing orders to scramble in the case of a hijacking and to find and accompany the aircraft to a safe airport. Why was not the President immediately informed that we were being attacked, as is the requirement under the law? How did nearly two hours pass before the events ended without a real response to such an attack? If this had been the beginning of a Nuclear war we would have had to respond within fifteen minutes to avoid destruction of our ability to respond at all. We have procedures that offer us response times measured in seconds to a threat like this one. How do we ignore it for nearly two hours?

The press has been silent on this important matter and it has been left to the survivors and the bereft parents, children and wives and husbands of the victims to force an investigation. Now that compromised investigation is being tampered with and stonewalled by the sycophants of this White House. Are we, the citizens of the greatest democracy ever created, so afraid of the truth that we will fail to demand it in this important case? If we are, Democracy is doomed, and we are a people without honor beyond anything to be believed before this day. How can sixty percent of the people in this nation believe that this President is a decisive leader in spite of his lack of response during those attacks? Because they have been sold that idea just like more soft soap used to wash the hands of this new age pompous pilot of our national destiny.

If you think I am angry finally and permanently about this betrayal of our people by a leadership that would have no credibility at all if it were not for the emotions attached to 9/11 you are right. I have worked as have most of us in our lifetimes to make this nation a better place to live. I have taken losses like a man since I learned what it was to be one at the hands of brother's uncles and drill instructors alike. I have never before lost faith in our system of government in the way I am losing it today.

We are being sold a bill of badly spoiled goods by people so lost to reality that they think they are living out some predestined roles as saviors of this nation. A nation at their mercy, that they are betraying daily. Their links to the Saudi's who created the radical Islamic movement in their own nation are betrayal enough for some of us. Is it treason to weaken the condition of the US economy and our military by making us dependent on foreign energy supplies? It is if there are options to carrying out that course of action and you know that that way lies disaster. We have been betrayed by Democrats and Republicans alike since after Jimmy Carter left the White House. The heart of the betrayal lies in the simple truth that strategically we could never fight a determined enemy again as we did during WWII. Our lack of a safe domestic supply of energy would prevent that level of wartime effort. Our current wars are minor little efforts compared to what we would have to mount if we ever wound up in a conventional war with China, for instance. Of course if our emergency response system were to fail us in that case as it did during 9/11 the war would be over within the first day.
